What you get in an illustration project
Every set ends with files for the web and print and a short style sheet so future graphics match the first ones.
Style sample
One or two graphics at the start to settle line, colours and level of detail.
Icons
A set on a shared grid with the same line weight and corner radii, in SVG and PNG.
Illustrations
A series of images in one style, prepared for specific places such as website sections or slides.
Key art
A large, polished illustration or scene for a campaign, poster or cover, with alternative crops.
Formats
SVG, PDF and PNG, and for painted illustrations a high-resolution layered file.
Style sheet
Palette, line, shading and examples, so another illustrator could add new graphics too.
Usage rights
The economic rights to the illustrations pass to you once the invoice is paid, within the fields of use in the contract.
Illustration as part of your brand
Everyone has seen the stock photos, and the same smiling people at a laptop appear on the websites of a bank, a school and a construction company. An illustration drawn for your brand is yours alone: it has your colours and character and shows exactly what you want to say, not whatever happened to be in the photo library.
We design three kinds of graphics. Icons, the small marks that organise a website, an app or your materials. Brand illustrations, a series of images in one style for your website, campaigns and social media. And detailed illustrations, large and polished scenes or key art for a campaign, a cover or a poster.
We start every set by settling the style on one or two samples: line weight, colours, level of detail and shading. Only then do we extend the approved style across the series, so the tenth illustration matches the first and we can add more a year later.
We deliver illustrations in formats for the web, print and animation: SVG and PDF vectors, PNG files in several sizes and, for painted illustrations, high-resolution layered files.

Vector or painted illustration
Vector
Sharp at any size, light on a website, easy to recolour and animate. Good for icons, web illustrations and signage.
Painted illustration
Richer in light and texture, but with a fixed resolution. Good for key art, covers and posters.
Flat style
Simple shapes and a limited palette. The quickest to extend into a series and add new graphics to.
Detailed style
More detail, shading and texture. Slower to produce, but more distinctive.

How illustrations come together
Brief1-2 days
Where the graphics will be used, what they should show, which styles you like and which to avoid.
1Style sample2-5 days
One or two graphics or composition sketches to set the direction.
2Series3-12 days
The remaining graphics in the approved style, shared as we go in a preview.
3Revisions1-3 days
Detail revisions and fitting crops to where they will be used.
4Files1 day
Export to all formats and the style sheet.
5
We reserve about 15% of the project time for revisions. The style is easiest to change at the sample stage, before the whole series is drawn.
What illustration pricing depends on
The price depends most on the level of detail and the number of graphics in the series, and less on the size of the graphic.
- 1
Level of detail
A flat illustration with a few colours is quicker than a scene with shading, light and texture.
- 2
Number of graphics
The first graphic sets the style and takes the longest. The next ones in the same style are faster.
- 3
Characters
People and animals in different poses take more work than objects and abstract shapes.
- 4
Formats
The same illustration as a landscape, portrait and square crop often needs to be recomposed.
How not to overpay
- Order the whole series at once instead of one graphic at a time
- Prepare examples of styles you like
- Choose a flat style if you need many graphics
- List every place of use and format at the start
Who we draw for
Tech companies and SaaS
Feature illustrations and icons for the website and app, when the product cannot be photographed.
Service businesses
Graphics that explain the service instead of stock photos.
Publishers and authors
Covers and illustrations for publications, quoted by the number of graphics.
Event organisers
Key art for a festival, conference or launch, adapted to posters and social media.
Product brands
Illustrations for packaging, labels and campaigns in your brand style.
How to prepare for an illustration project
Style examples and a list of where the graphics will be used help the most.
0 / 6 ready
- A list of graphics and what each should show
- Where they will be used: website, print, social media, animation
- Examples of illustrations you like and ones you do not want
- Your logo, colours and fonts
- The copy that will sit next to the illustrations
- The date you need the graphics by
Other illustrations we quote individually
| Type | What it covers | What the price depends on |
|---|---|---|
| Infographic | data or a process shown in one graphic | amount of data and number of languages |
| Book or e-book cover | front, spine and back, or a digital cover | illustration or typography, print format |
| Book illustrations | a series of illustrations for a publication | number of illustrations and level of detail |
| Illustrated map | a plan of a venue, area or event | size of the area and number of objects |
| Character and mascot | a brand hero in many poses | a separate service: brand mascot |
Where illustrations work for your brand
Website
Section illustrations, diagrams of how the service works and error pages that show what to do next instead of an empty screen.
App and dashboard
Navigation icons, welcome screens and empty list states, designed on one grid with the interface.
Proposals and decks
Graphics that explain a process or product on a slide faster than a paragraph.
Packaging and labels
An illustration as the main motif of the pack, prepared in print colours and fitted to the die-line.
Campaigns and social media
Key art adapted to a poster, a banner and posts, with crops for every format.
Signage
Pictograms and icons for doors, walls and boards, readable from a distance and in one colour.
Which file to use where
| File | When to use it | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| SVG | website and app | light and sharp at any size, colour can be changed in code |
| Vector PDF | print, signage, large formats | printers accept it without loss of quality |
| PNG | presentations, documents, social media | transparent background, but a fixed size |
| Layered file | painted illustrations and animation | keeps layers for further editing |
Illustrations and icons without disappointment
Illustration styles and how to choose yours
Flat, line, isometric, textured or painted: each style says something different about a brand. Flat and line styles suggest simplicity and technology, texture and painting suggest craft and emotion, and isometry suggests precision and processes.
We choose the style together based on your examples and the character of the brand, then test it on a sample. It also matters whether the style can grow: the simpler it is, the easier it is to add new graphics in the same spirit.
Licences and rights to illustrations
Illustrations bought from stock libraries come with licences that often limit use, for example forbidding them in a logo or on products for sale. Your competitors can buy the same graphic too.
Illustrations ordered from us are yours: the economic rights pass to you once the invoice is paid, within the fields of use described in the contract. You can use them on your website, in print, on merch and in ads.
An icon set that stays consistent
Icons from different sources have different line weights, corner radii and sizes, so side by side they look random. A set designed from scratch shares a grid, one line weight and the same rules for simplifying shapes.
The set comes with usage rules: minimum size, spacing, colours and when an icon has a label. We draw new icons to the same rules when a new service or feature appears.
