Logos from AI generators:when they work and when they hurt

An AI generator can draw something that looks like a logo in a minute. Sometimes that is enough. More often the problems start at the first sign, print run or trademark filing.

When a generator is enough

To test an idea, for a one-off event, for an internal project or as a starting point for a talk with a designer. A few generated options help you say which direction you like and which you do not.

The file problem

Generators usually deliver a raster image. It looks fine on a website, but a sign, a van or embroidery needs a vector. Automatic conversion gives jagged edges, hundreds of extra points and crooked letters, so the logo has to be redrawn by hand.

The originality problem

A generator combines patterns it has seen before, so it is easy to end up with a mark similar to one that already exists. Before printing and filing it is worth checking similar marks in public registers, and the rights status of generated graphics depends on the tool terms and is not always clear.

A logo you cannot register or print on a sign stops being cheap at its first serious use.

The system problem

A brand is not one picture. You need versions for light and dark backgrounds, the symbol alone for avatars, CMYK colours for print and usage rules. A generator gives one image and the rest has to be built from scratch.

A sensible combination

Treat the generated options as a moodboard and bring them to the first conversation. Logo design at Aphrodi starts at 1,200 PLN net and includes competitor research, colour versions, vector files and full rights once paid.
