Food and beverage packaging and label design: wine, beer, honey, coffee and preserves
We design labels, back labels and packaging for wineries, craft breweries, honey producers, coffee roasters and food makers. We plan space for mandatory information from the first sketch, design flavour ranges that are easy to tell apart on the shelf and show the product in 3D before print. The starter kit lists the price of every element.

What a food producer needs
From a label for the first batch to launch and trade fair materials.
Front label
The name, character of the product and brand legible from shelf distance.
Back label
Ingredients, allergens, net quantity, date and producer details in a clear layout.
Flavour range
A system of colours or illustrations that makes variants easy to tell apart.
Packaging
A box, tin, bag or outer case on the manufacturer's die line.
3D packshots
Product images for the online store, wholesale catalogue and marketplaces, before labels are printed.
Wholesale catalogue
A product list with packshots, barcodes and logistics data for wholesale buyers.
Launch and fairs
Social media graphics, a poster and a roll-up for the stand.
A product that sells from the shelf
On a shop shelf, at a fair stand and in an online store, a food product has a moment to catch the eye. In that time the label has to say what it is, what character it has and how it differs from the jars and bottles next to it. Only then does the customer pick it up and read the details on the back.
We design labels and packaging for small and medium producers: wineries, craft breweries, honey producers, coffee roasters, fruit and vegetable processors, cheese and charcuterie makers. Every label is designed on the actual container, with the printer's die line, and checked on the bottle, jar or bag.
Mandatory information is not an add-on pasted in at the end. EU Regulation 1169/2011 sets out the particulars on a label and a minimum font size, and wine, honey and beer have specific rules too. We plan space for them from the first sketch, while you or your food technologist prepare the content.
We do not print labels or packaging. We prepare files with die lines, colours and finishes for the printer, help with the proof, and 3D packshots come from the same file, so the shop and catalogue have images before the product leaves the printer.
Kits for food producers
Three kits: a first product, a flavour range and a new line launch. Each element is a package from our price list. Kit prices are the sum of the starting prices of packages from our price list, with no surcharge and no discount. The quote gives the exact scope and timeline.

Ask about the kitFood label mistakes
Most of them show up at the printer or on the shelf, when the batch is already made.
No room for mandatory particulars
A label designed without a back label ends with cramped ingredients and type below the required size.
Variants you cannot tell apart
Three flavours in nearly the same colour confuse customers and shop staff.
A decorative name unreadable from the shelf
A name in an over-ornate typeface disappears at the distance a customer views the shelf from.
A design without the container
A label designed as a flat rectangle wrinkles on a tapered bottle or does not close around a jar.
A barcode on a curve
A code placed where a jar or bottle curves is hard to scan, which slows the till and goods receipt.
Colour different from the screen
Without a proof and knowledge of the stock, colour on label paper can differ from the design.
Producers and their media
| Producer | Media | What we watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Winery | label, back label, capsule, gift box | the character of vintage and variety, wine market rules |
| Craft brewery | label, can, beer series | a recognisable series, new batches in one system |
| Honey producer | jar label, hang tag, box | honey variety, origin labelling rules |
| Coffee roaster | valve bag, label, tasting card | origin, flavour profile, roast date |
| Food processor | jar label, flavour range, cases | distinct variants, legible ingredients |
Mandatory particulars: a checklist
Particulars in article 9
The name of the food, ingredients, allergens, the quantity of certain ingredients, net quantity, the date of minimum durability or use by date, storage conditions, the operator's details, country of origin where required, instructions for use, alcohol above 1.2% and the nutrition declaration.
Font size
Article 13 requires an x-height of at least 1.2 mm, and at least 0.9 mm on packaging whose largest surface is less than 80 cm².
One field of vision
The name of the food, the net quantity and, for drinks above 1.2% alcohol, the alcohol content must be in the same field of vision.
Allergens in ingredients
Article 21 requires allergens from Annex II to be emphasised in the ingredients list, for example by font, style or background colour.
A flavour range that is easy to tell apart
A fixed layout
Logo, name and information always in the same place on every label.
A variable element
A colour, illustration or pattern that identifies the flavour at once.
The variant name
Clear, in the same place, legible from the shelf.
Rules for the future
A description of how to design the next variant in the same system.
Food labels and packaging step by step
A label that works from the shelf
Customers look at a shelf from a few metres and scan quickly. At that moment the front label has one job: stop them and say what the product is. That is why the front carries the brand, the product name, its character and the variant, while details move to the back label.
We show every concept on a photo of a shelf or in a visual next to competitors' products. Only then can you see whether the product stands out or disappears among similar packs.
Space for mandatory information
EU Regulation 1169/2011 lists the particulars that must appear on a label and sets a minimum font height: 1.2 mm for the x-height, and 0.9 mm on small packs.Forget it while designing the front, and ingredients and producer details later have to be squeezed into a field that is too small.
That is why we design the back label together with the front, with a grid for ingredients, the nutrition table, allergens emphasised in the ingredients, the date and the barcode. You or your technologist prepare the content, and we make sure it is legible and fits without compromise.
Flavour ranges and variants
When new flavours, sizes and seasonal editions arrive, they should look like one family, while each variant stays easy to tell apart on the shelf and in the warehouse.
We design a system: a fixed layout with the logo and name and a variable element such as a colour, illustration or pattern. In the Label Line package you get rules for adding more variants yourself or with another designer.
3D visualisation before print
A label on a flat screen looks different on a bottle, jar or can.A 3D visualisation shows how the design wraps around the container, how it looks from different sides and whether key elements hide behind the curve.
The same model produces packshots for the online store, the wholesale catalogue and marketplace listings before the first batch leaves the printer. A new flavour is a label change in the model, not a new photo shoot.
Barcodes and retailer data
Retail chains and wholesalers require a GTIN barcode, which producers in Poland obtain from GS1 Polska. On the label the code needs space at the right size, a light background and margins so a scanner reads it first time.
We plan the barcode into the design from the start, in a place that does not bend around the curve of a bottle or jar, and check its legibility on the printer's proof.
Product launch
A new product needs more than a label: social media announcements, images for shops and campaigns, a point of sale poster. The launch package brings packaging, 3D animation and a campaign together under one motif.
For alcoholic drinks, check the Polish advertising restrictions in the Act on Upbringing in Sobriety and Counteracting Alcoholism before a campaign. We design the materials, but assessing the campaign's legal compliance is up to you.
Fairs, wholesalers and shops
Small producers may sell at fairs, in local food shops, through wholesalers and in their own online store. At a fair the stand matters: a branded roll-up, a price list and labels visible from afar. A wholesaler needs a catalogue with packshots, codes and logistics data.
We design stand materials and the catalogue in the style of the labels, with files for the printer and stand builder, so the brand is recognisable in every sales channel.
