Music people recognise before it plays

Listeners may meet an artist through an image before they hear a note: a cover in a streaming app, a poster in town, a T-shirt at a gig, a profile avatar. A consistent style means every new release and show builds recognition instead of starting from zero.

We design an artist's visual identity: a logo or wordmark that works on stage, posters and T-shirts, a cover style that links singles into one series, and social templates for releases, tours and shows. The character comes from the music: we design differently for a techno DJ, a folk band or a rapper.

A cover on a streaming service is a few centimetres wide on a phone screen, often less. That is why we design covers to work as thumbnails: a clear motif, strong contrast, a short title or none at all. Files are prepared as a square at the resolution your distributor requires.

We do not print or produce merch. We prepare files for the poster printer and clothing producer, and you pay the supplier directly.

Mistakes in artist visuals

Each one makes the music disappear among other releases.

  • A cover with small text

A long title and a list of features in small type are unreadable as a thumbnail in an app.

  • Every single in a different style

Covers without a shared language do not build recognition for the artist.

  • A logo unreadable on merch

A very detailed wordmark loses legibility in a T-shirt print and in embroidery.

  • A poster without hierarchy

A date, venue and ticket info hidden in the illustration mean the poster does not sell the show.

  • Low resolution artwork

A file taken from social media and used for a poster or merch prints blurry.

Where an artist's visuals work

Each place has a different format and a different moment to catch attention.

A cover that works as a thumbnail

The rules we use to design covers for streaming.

One strong motif

An illustration, photo or form you recognise from a few metres away and in a small square.

Little text

The artist name and title, if needed, at a size that reads on a phone.

A series

A shared element for singles from one album, such as a colour, crop or typography.

Distributor requirements

A square file at the resolution and format required by the distribution service you use.

A musician's and DJ's visuals step by step

Single and album covers

An album cover can be the most important image in an artist's discography. We design it as an illustration or a photo composition, as a square, with versions for singles, posters and social media. For singles leading up to an album, we make sure they form a series that leads to the album cover.

Files are prepared at the resolution and format your music distributor requires. Rules on text, logos and quality differ between services, so before delivering files we check the rules of the one you use.

Gig and party posters

A gig poster has two jobs: catch the eye and pass on information. The illustration and artist name catch attention, while the date, venue and ticket info must be readable at once. We design the poster for print and in social media versions, with room to change dates on a tour.

For a tour we design one motif with a list of cities, or separate versions for each show, with a template where you change the date and venue yourself.

Tour merch

Merch can be an important source of income and also a medium fans wear long after the show.We design T-shirt, hoodie and bag graphics for the print technique, with a sensible number of colours, so the cost per piece leaves room for profit.

A merch collection can use the album cover, the logo and motifs from the tour posters, so everything tells one story.

Releases on social media

A single release is a series of posts: an announcement, a countdown, release day, lyric quotes, show recaps.Templates in the style of the cover let you prepare them quickly and keep the whole campaign consistent.

We design templates in vertical and square formats, in Canva, with space for photos, dates and links, so you can publish without a designer.
