What a law firm or accounting office needs
Materials clients see in correspondence and at the first meeting.
Logo or monogram
A mark with the surname or firm name, legible in an email signature and on a stamp.
Letterhead and letter templates
Templates in Word and Google Docs with heading styles, numbering and a footer.
Email signature
An HTML signature with contact details, professional title and logo, working in popular email programs.
Business cards
Business cards for partners and the team, with professional titles written the same way.
Sign
A sign at the entrance to the building or office, factual and legible.
Stamp
A version of the logo and details for a rubber stamp, legible in one colour and at a small size.
Website
Practice areas, the team, how you work with clients and contact details, without advertising slogans.
A brand clients see mostly on paper and in email
The brand of a law firm or accounting office works above all in correspondence: in an email signature, a court filing, a contract, a statement, an invoice and a business card, and later on the sign at the entrance and the website, when the client checks who they are dealing with. That is why we design a law firm identity starting from the documents, not from the logo alone.
A good law firm mark is calm and lasting. It does not need to show scales, a section sign, a column, a gavel or an owl, because those are template symbols that say nothing about your firm. We build character with typography, proportions, colour and a monogram that looks good on paper, in a signature and on a stamp.
Templates save the most work. Letterhead and letter templates in Word with heading styles, numbering and a footer already set up make every document from the firm look the same, no matter who prepared it. An HTML email signature works in email programs without the layout falling apart.
Law firms work under the rules of their professional bodies, which regulate how lawyers inform the public about their practice. We design informational materials and suggest what to check, but we do not give legal advice. You assess the content and its compliance with the rules of your professional body.

Ask about the kitMistakes in law firm identities
Each one makes the firm look less serious than the work it does.
Scales, section sign, column
Symbols from logo templates do not help anyone remember your firm.
Gold and marble
Gold effects, marble textures and ornate typefaces look pretentious and print badly on an ordinary office printer.
Letters without a template
Every lawyer formats documents differently, so letters from one firm look as if they came from several.
A signature as an image
An email signature made entirely of a graphic does not display in some programs, and the phone number cannot be copied from it.
Titles written in different ways
Abbreviated and full professional titles used one way here and another way there look sloppy. One way of writing them across all materials brings order to the brand.
A website without specifics
General slogans instead of practice areas, the team and how you work do not help clients choose.
Law firm logo cliches and what to use instead
| Cliche | Why it does not work | What instead |
|---|---|---|
| Scales and section sign | easy to find in logo templates | a monogram from the partners' initials |
| Column and gavel | associated with a court, not a law firm | a wordmark with surnames in a carefully chosen typeface |
| Owl | a symbol of wisdom from templates | a single typographic detail as the mark |
| Chart and calculator | template symbols for accounting offices | a form based on order and a grid |
Law firm documents in one style

A version for print and for PDF, with details in the footer and space for a case reference.
Letter templates
Heading styles, point numbering, footnotes and a table of contents set up in Word.
Email signature
HTML with text that can be copied and a small logo.
Folder and envelope
For documents handed to clients at meetings.
Firm presentation
A proposal and presentation template for business clients.
Professional body rules: what to check
Advocates
Informing the public about the practice of the profession is regulated by the rules of the bar, set out in the Rules of Advocates' Ethics and Dignity of the Profession. Check the current text with your regional bar council.
Legal advisers
The rules on informing the public about the practice of the profession are in the Code of Ethics for Legal Advisers. Check the current wording with your regional chamber.
Accounting offices
They are subject to general law, including the Act on Combating Unfair Competition, which covers, for example, misleading advertising.
Professional titles
On business cards, in the signature and on the website, write professional titles consistently and in line with each person's qualifications.
A law firm brand step by step
Serious without being pretentious
A law firm should look serious, but seriousness does not require gold, marble and ornate typefaces.Credibility comes from care: a well-chosen typeface, considered proportions, order in documents and a calm palette that looks good on paper and on screen.
It also matters that law firm materials are printed on ordinary office printers. We design the logo and letterhead to look good in black and white, with colour as an addition, not a condition for legibility.
A surname in the logo
A law firm can carry the partners' surnames, because clients choose specific lawyers.A wordmark with the surnames in a carefully chosen typeface, plus a monogram from the initials for small uses such as the signature, stamp and profile picture, is a good arrangement.
When the lineup of partners may change, it is worth considering a name independent of surnames, or a system where changing a surname in the wordmark does not mean designing the brand from scratch. We settle this at the start of the project.
Letters and Word templates
Court filings, legal opinions, contracts and statements make up most of what a firm sends to clients.Templates with heading styles, point numbering, footnotes and a footer already set up make every document look uniform, and lawyers do not waste time on formatting.
We prepare templates in Word or Google Docs, with instructions on how to use them. They work on every computer in the firm, with no extra software.
Email signature and correspondence
Email is one of the main channels of contact with clients, and the signature is in every message. We design it in HTML, with text that can be copied and a small logo, so it displays correctly in popular email programs and on phones.
In the signature we write the details the same way for the whole team: name, professional title, phone, address and website. For each person we prepare a ready file to paste into their email program.
The law firm website
A client looking for a lawyer or an accountant wants to know what you do, who will handle their matter and how working together looks.A website with practice areas, the team, a description of how you work and contact details answers these questions factually, without promises of winning.
We design the website in Figma and write the copy in our copywriting service, and it is built by the software house VulCode we work with every day.
Informing the public about your practice
Advocates and legal advisers are bound by the rules of their professional bodies on informing the public about the practice of the profession. We design materials in an informational tone: who you are, what you do and how to get in touch, without comparisons with other firms or promises about the outcome of a case.
Before publishing the website, business cards and sign, it is worth comparing them with the current text of your professional body's rules. We help prepare the materials, but assessing compliance is up to you.
